# Eczema in Skin of Color > Eczema in Skin of Color is a patient and clinician education resource produced by Allergy & Asthma Network that addresses the unique diagnostic and treatment challenges faced by people with darker skin tones who have eczema (atopic dermatitis). Eczema affects people of every race and ethnicity, but its appearance varies significantly with skin pigmentation — and those differences are frequently misunderstood or overlooked in clinical settings, leading to delayed diagnoses and undertreated disease. Eczema on Black and brown skin often appears ashen gray, purplish, or darker than the surrounding skin rather than red, which is how it typically presents on lighter skin tones. This visual difference, combined with fewer providers trained to recognize eczema on darker skin pigments, contributes to disparities in care. The site provides clinical images, patient education content, and resources for both patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs) to improve recognition, diagnosis, and management of eczema in skin of color. Content covers atopic dermatitis in adults and children. ## Patient Information - [What Is Eczema?](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/what-is-atopic-dermatitis/): Overview of atopic dermatitis — causes, symptoms, and how it differs across skin tones - [Pediatric Eczema](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/pediatric-eczema/): Eczema in children with skin of color, including how symptoms and severity may differ - [Patient Resources](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/patient-resources/): Educational materials, guides, and support resources for patients and caregivers ## Diagnosis & Treatment - [Diagnosis & Treatment](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/diagnosis-treatment/): How eczema is diagnosed in skin of color and available treatment options including biologics and topical therapies - [Image Library](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/image-library/): Clinical photos showing eczema presentation across a range of skin pigments for diagnostic reference - [Videos](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/videos/): Video education for patients and clinicians on eczema in skin of color ## Healthcare Professional Resources - [Resources for HCPs](https://eczemainskinofcolor.org/hcp-doctor-resources/): Clinical tools, training materials, and continuing education resources for dermatologists, allergists, and primary care providers ## Related Sites - [Main AAN Website](https://allergyasthmanetwork.org/): Allergy & Asthma Network patient education, research, and advocacy - [Biologic Medications](https://biologicmeds.org/): Patient-facing information on biologic therapies for eczema and other conditions - [What Is Eczema?
